33,500 steps = 14 miles...our farthest distance so far! Our feet were screaming, but 2 hours post, a shower, some stretches and a beer later...we're feeling pretty good!
As we left Ponferado this morning....Pat and I liked this artwork that we saw on the support beam of a bridge - an analogy of the Camino? Our take...people from all over the world/the universe and the driver - God the Father? Moses? - looking behind/taking it all in - maybe perplexed?!!!!
Soon into our hike we passed a cemetery.
Our hike today was mostly along roads, through villages, and up & down hills...but no steep descents like yesterday. The weather was a balmy 75 degrees, but we walked in direct sun a lot & even with hats and reapplied sunscreen, we both got sunburned!
Hiking in the countryside today we saw so many fruits...pomegranate, pear, apple and chestnut trees. We also walked through vineyard after vineyard of purple grapes. Yes, we snatched a few & they were absolutely delicious!
Tonight we stayed in Villafranco del Bierzo and found it quite magical.
Tomorrow, we do it again, but tonight...we rest!
Buen Camino!
Gracias!
